Get loud! Be bold! Express yourself with your whole heart! Show the world exactly who you are! It is Leo Season, baby! On July 22nd at 10:26am, the Sun celebrates it’s homecoming to fixed, fiery, Leo. While Cancer Season kicked off the summer months, here in the Northern Hemisphere, Leo Season shows us summer’s staying power: the days are long and hot (sometimes excruciatingly so), with heat-filled days overflowing into warm, muggy nights. As far as fire signs go, if Aries is the strike of a match and Sagittarius is a bonfire, Leo is a long-lasting burn in a fireplace. Ruled by the Sun and represented by the Lion, Leo is expressive, bold, warm, loyal, and unapologetic. Some may say that Leo is attention-seeking and dramatic (and given it’s connection to the Sun, our ego, this isn’t necessarily untrue), but Leo is here to lead with their heart and act as your biggest cheerleader. There’s a performative nature to Leo Season; the world's a stage, my friends. There is truly no better time than now to play, create, and try something new. The Sun doesn’t ask for permission to shine, and neither should you. Claim the spotlight!

This Leo Season embraces many planetary shifts and TWO Full Moons! Acting as bookends to Leo Season with a Full Moon on July 23rd and on August 22nd, we’re given two chances to tap into our Full Moon rituals, and, thank the cosmos, because the first Full Moon is a little turbulent. While both Full Moons pull in themes of the individual (Leo) vs. the collective (Aquarius), warmth and connection (Leo) vs. cooling and detachment (Aquarius), they’re two very different lunations. July 23rd’s Full Moon is enclosed, or “sandwiched” by Pluto, the planet of destruction and transformation, and Saturn, the planet of limitations and boundaries. In short: it’s not very comfy. This type of configuration can feel emotionally challenging and limiting, but can also be great for releasing what is no longer serving you, like an emotional shedding. Contrastingly, the Full Moon on August 22nd, having just passed over a retrograde Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion, sits at 29 degrees. 29 degrees of any sign is extremely potent; known as an “anaretic degree”, it represents the end of a cycle and is oftentimes a very extreme, heightened version of a sign. This Full Moon feels more productive with the ability to do “Full Moon things” related to the Leo and Aquarius themes. It feels like an open opportunity for a do-over of the first Full Moon in a way, so if there is something you missed on the first go-around, there is a chance to release yet again.

On July 27th, at 9:11 pm, Mercury, the planet of communication, joins the Sun in Leo. With Mercury in Leo, thoughts and ideas become big and bold, for the next two-ish weeks. Next up on planetary shifts, as Jupiter has to retrace its steps back into Aquarius starting July 28th, take the time to think back to what was coming up in your life at the end of March 2021. Those themes are bound to come up again, as Jupiter ties up loose ends until October and regroups through the new year. Jupiter in Pisces was more light, fun, and idealistic, however, we may begin to see themes of Jupiter in Aquarius restrictions yet again. Then, on July 29th, Mars, the planet of passion, shifts out of Leo and gets a bit of a reality check in analytical, detail-oriented Virgo. If Mars in Leo is the life of the party, Mars in Virgo is the one shutting the party down, reminding us we have to get to bed for that important thing the next morning. On August 11th, Mercury will then join Mars in it’s home sign of Virgo, allowing space for refinement.

Lastly, on August 16th, Venus, the planet of relationships and values, returns to its home sign, Libra. With an invitation to look and feel flirty, take some time to focus on your aesthetics, values, and relationships. Libra is all about harmony, so this is a lovely time to start bringing those Venusian areas of your life into balance.

For more details on how this juicy Leo Season will show up for you personally, read on! (hint: read for both your sun AND rising signs!)

Aries

This Leo Season is all about self expression, play, and creativity, Aries! Bold by nature, this season highlights the way in which you express your boldness. How will you communicate it? How will you share it with the world? How will you tap into child-like wonder, play, and pleasure? The Full Moon on July 23rd is a bit of a challenging one, given the moon is enclosed by Pluto, the planet of transformation, and Saturn, the planet of limitations. Almost by a way of rough landing, this Full Moon asks you to pay attention to your social circles and networks. If they’re not adding to your creative expression, Aries, it might be time to let them go. Come the New Moon on August 8th, you’re invited to set intentions related to your Leo themes: what do you want to create in this life? How do you want to have fun and find more pleasure? How can you express yourself more authentically? If it hasn’t been aligning with your heart, Aries, this is the time to regroup. Closing out Leo Season with a Full Moon on August 22nd, the Leo/Aquarius axis again highlights the areas of your life related to self-expression and social networks. Keep in mind, this Full Moon is LOUD, coming in at a potent 29 degrees and is magnified by Jupiter. Full Moons are a time of harvesting the fruits of our labor, and when we harvest, we must also let go- let go of the things we have been tending to for so long so we can finally enjoy it. With that, comes a release. What will you be releasing, my friend?

Taurus

For you, this Leo Season is all about your home, roots, ancestors, and lineage, Taurus! How can your home-base reflect the parts of you that are expressive, bold, and warm? How can your family (both blood and chosen) embody loyal support? How can you creatively connect to your roots and ancestors? The Full Moon on July 23rd is a bit of a challenging one, given the moon is enclosed by Pluto, the planet of transformation, and Saturn, the planet of limitations. Almost by a rough landing, this Full Moon asks you to pay attention to the dichotomy of your private and public life; if your work is not nurturing your home, it may be time to release the pieces that no longer serve you. While it may not be easy, it may feel like an emotional shedding-- one that transforms the way you feel and emote. Come the New Moon on August 8th, you’re further invited to set intentions related to your Leo themes: what do you want your home to feel like? How do you want to connect and reflect? How can these spaces provide big, bold love, support, and warmth? If it hasn’t been aligning with your home and heart, Taurus, this is the time to regroup. Closing out the Leo Season with the Full Moon on August 22nd, the Leo/Aquarius axis again highlights the areas of your life related to your personal and private life.
