Coven Scopes: Aquarius Season

Coven Scopes: Aquarius Season

On January 19th at 9:39pm, the Sun moves out of grounded and stoic Capricorn and into progressive, electric Aquarius. To me, Aquarius is one of the most interesting signs of the zodiac– an Air sign, ruled by Saturn, shows us different Saturnian archetypes than that of Capricorn. Coming at us in the darkest, coldest months of the year (at least here in the Northern Hemisphere), Aquarius often gets the reputation of being cold, detached, and independent. While that can sometimes be the case, Aquarius in and of itself offers a uniqueness to it than (arguably) any other sign in the zodiac. Given its name, as well as being represented by “the water bearer”, many, quite understandably, confuse Aquarius for a Water sign. I think, perhaps, this can parallel some of the misunderstanding that comes with Aquarius. At the end of the day, Aquarius is progressive, forward thinking, and does deeply care about the collective; they just do so in their own way! My favorite Aquarius example is Harry Styles– he’s goofy, always pushes himself in regards to his style, is incredibly talented, stands up for social injustices, and his motto is “Treat People With Kindness”. Some people don’t understand him, and that’s okay. He’s living his life on his own terms, and doing good in the process. That’s truly the Aquarian way.

This Aquarius Season gifts us with a Mercury Retrograde, Mars moving into Capricorn, Venus Stationing Direct, and of course, a New Moon in Aquarius, and Full Moon in Leo. Back in Capricorn Season, on January 14th, Mercury stationed Retrograde at 10°20’ Aquarius. Taking the trek backwards to 24°22’ Capricorn, Mercury will be retracing it’s steps from December 29th, 2021 to January 14th, 2022, so think about what was coming up in your life during that time in relation to communication, learning, technology, short distance travel/travel mechanisms (like cars, planes, etc.), and information processing. Retrogrades are a period of revision, reviewing, reflecting, and reconsidering, so you may find yourself coming back to something that you thought was already wrapped up. While Mercury Retrograde ends on February 3rd, some loose ends may need to be tied up through February 23rd.

On January 24th, Mars moves out of fiery Sagittarius and into the sign of it’s exaltation: Capricorn. When a planet is exalted, it’s thought to be elevated, supported, and really able to do ~its thing~ comfortably. While a planet in its rulership is thought to be its “home”, a planet in its exaltation is like being at a close friend or family’s house– it’s comfortable and has resources available to them, yet doesn’t have to do the laundry or wash the dishes. With Mars in Capricorn, Mars is able to sustain its energy and make rational, calculated decisions. (Whereas in Aries, Mars wants to run full speed ahead and make quick, rash decisions.) This shift into Capricorn will mark newfound energy for everyone in a different way, depending on their chart, so be sure to read your horoscope for more information!

As Venus stations Direct on January 29th, we begin to wrap up our Venus Retrograde story. Having begun this Retrograde on December 19th, 2021, this Retrograde calls back to November 17th to December 19th. If you think back to that time, you may have found yourself reconsidering Venusian things like money, relationships, values, style, and aesthetics. This could look like relationship or partnership endings, or, could look like reviewing values with a partner that bring you two closer together. Or perhaps jumping back into a skincare or make-up routine! Again, this Retrograde will have affected everyone a little differently, depending on their chart, however the story doesn’t truly end until March 1st.
Moving onto the Lunations of this Aquarius Season, we kick things off on February 1st with a New Moon in Aquarius at 12°20’. This New Moon is an interesting one, as it’s conjunct Saturn, meaning they are very close together, and is also square (forming tension with) Uranus. Saturn is the planet of structure, boundaries, and limitations, while Uranus is the planet of liberation, change, and freedom. It’s almost like this New Moon is wanting us to turn inward and get serious about the structures in our life, and how we can think differently about them, but there’s this tension of wanting to break free from the mold. To a different tune, the Full Moon in Leo on February 16th invites us to look at our independence, the way in which we shine, and how we step into our power. The Full Moon is at the Nodal Bendings, meaning it’s square the Lunar Nodes of Fate. With this in mind, the Full Moon in Leo has a fated aura to it, asking us to make necessary changes or take action in how we can release that which no longer serves us to project forward to our Soul’s fate.
For more information on how this month’s astro-weather will play out for you, read on! (Hint: read for both your Sun sign AND Rising sign!)

Aries
Aries, this season is all about connecting to your peer groups and social circles! As the Sun enters your space of community, you’re called to connect with those who can help fuel your interests, and think outside the box to get there! Mercury Retrogrades through this same space, so you’re also asked to revise the ways in which you think, communicate, and learn with those who share similar interests and are in your peer group. This could be a great time for you to reconnect with some old colleagues or people you met through various hobbies or adventures. Mercury will also dip into your space of public recognition, career, and goals, so you also have the opportunity to refine how you communicate the way in which you’d like to be perceived by others. Speaking of this area of your life, Venus has been Retrograde in Capricorn, asking you to review, refine, or reconsider your values, money, relationships, and aesthetics– especially those concerned with your career and goals in this life. You’ve likely been doing a lot of readjusting over the last month and a half, so give yourself some grace in knowing that you have the power to adjust your life in any way you’d like. As Mars shifts into this space on January 24th, you’ll find yourself with newfound energy and drive related to your career and goals, so you’re really able to put all of that reflection and refinement into motion in a way that is sustainable, practical, and refined. On February 1st, the New Moon in Aquarius will ask you to set intentions and goals related to your social circles and networks. This New Moon sits right next to Saturn, the planet of boundaries and limitations, however, its also square Uranus, the planet of change and liberation. You may find that you want to take things seriously, but perhaps you need to push yourself to get creative. As the Full Moon in Leo arrives on February 16th, you’re called to shine a light on your playful, creative, expressive endeavors. This Full Moon is square the Nodes of Fate, the releasing and cultivation here is one that contributes to your karmic story. Life, without creativity, can be so, so, boring! Remind the world that you, Aries, are a fiery, self-starting creative at heart!

Taurus Dear Taurus, this Aquarius Season is all about your goals, reputation, and career! As the Sun enters this space, you’re called to kind of go against the status quo– how can you stand out and approach your goals in a way that highlights just how unique you truly are? As Mercury Retrogrades through this same space, you’ve likely been reflecting and revising the way in which you communicate, think, and learn. A change in thought processes isn’t always a bad thing, Taurus, especially if you’ve been feeling stuck. This Retrograde could be a great time for you to revise some career goals, or jump back into that skill you wanted to learn that will help you progress. As Mercury also dips into your house of higher education, travel, and philosophy, the desire to revisit something you’d like to learn is only amplified. Additionally, Venus, the planet of values, money, love, and relationships has been Retrograde in this space of higher learning; you may have found that your values are shifting in regards to the way in which you think about such worldly beliefs. As Mars moves into Capricorn on January 24th, you’re then given the energy, drive, and stamina to get behind all of the refinement you’ve been working on with the Venus Retrograde. In short: it’s time to start putting all of the things you’ve been daydreaming about into action! This newfound energy gives you the boost you need to start digging into higher learning and philosophy that will only lead to further self development and expansion. On February 1st, the New Moon in Aquarius will ask you to set intentions and goals related to how you want to be seen by the world around you. Given this New Moon’s proximity to Saturn, you may feel a bit restricted or like you need to give yourself more structure, however, the square to Uranus is urging you to break free from limitations, especially those you place upon yourself. With the Full Moon in Leo on February 16th, you’re then asked to take a look at your home, family, and private life. The moon in Leo is warm, inviting, and playful, so Taurus, perhaps you cozy up, light some candles, and get creative! Creative expression can be a great way to process all of our hard work or to let go of whatever it is we need to get off our chest; as this Full Moon squares the Nodes of Fate, whatever you do here is sure to help you make the space to step into the next phase of all of your greatness.

Gemini
Gemini, this Aquarius Season invites you to get curious about your worldly views, philosophies, beliefs, morals, and higher levels of learning. As the Sun enters this space, it’s like a spotlight is cast upon all of the areas in which you can find personal expansion, growth, and opportunity, and how you can approach these spaces with progressive thinking. As Mercury Retrogrades through this same space, you’ve likely been reflecting, revising, or reviewing the way in which you think, communicate, reason, and learn, especially as it pertains to culture, travel, higher education, and religion. If you’ve been reconsidering expanding your knowledge in various ways, my curious Gemini, this Retrograde is the time to do it! As Mercury also dips into Capricorn during this Retrograde, you’re also asked to look at your relationship to the taboo: other people’s money and resources, the occult, and transformation, among other things. In this sort of darker space, Mercury ties up any loose ends before stationing direct on February 3rd. Speaking of the taboo, Venus has been Retrograde in this space, inviting you to review your
values related to inheritance, death, and transformation. These topics are only uncomfortable because we’ve made them uncomfortable, so how can you adjust your relationship to the discomfort? The more you work with it, Gemini, the less sticky it feels. All of this revision paves the way for Mars to enter Capricorn on January 24th, gifting you with newfound energy and drive. Mars in Capricorn is sustainable, rational, and resourceful, which gives you the ability to tackle these challenging topics in a way that won’t burn you out. Calling back to our Aquarius themes, on February 1st, the New Moon in Aquarius gives you the space to check in with your philosophies and beliefs. While the proximity of this New Moon to Saturn tells you to establish boundaries and structure to your plans, the square to Uranus, the planet of change and liberation, invites you to think outside the box and do things differently. After all, nothing ever changed by remaining the same! With the Full Moon in Leo on February 16th, you’re then asked to look at your community and communication. The Moon in Leo is warm, inviting, bold, and dare I say, dramatic. Use this Full Moon to release any ways of thinking that aren’t allowing you to reach your fullest potential. As this Moon squares the Nodes of Fate, the releasing you’re doing here is only projecting you towards your Soul’s goals.

Cancer
For you, Cancer, this Aquarius Season takes you to the shadows of yourself, casting a dim light to this space and asking you to clear the cobwebs. As the Sun moves into this space related to inheritance, other people’s resources, death, and transformation, your task this month is to get a little more comfortable with the uncomfortable. As Mercury has been Retrograding though this space, you’ve probably already found yourself reconsidering the way in which you think, reason, and communicate around these relatively taboo topics. As Mercury also dips into Capricorn during its Retrograde, you’re also asked to take a look at relationships and partnerships, which is a pretty big theme for you right now! Venus, the planet of values, money, and relationships, has also been Retrograde in Capricorn, so there’s been a lot of emphasis on what it is you value and need in not only platonic relationships, but intimate ones, as well. Cancer, you feel and care so deeply, it’s important to remember that the people in your life should care and feel deeply for you, too. As Venus stations direct on January 29th, this story becomes a little clearer for you, however, it’s not done just yet! This clarity and reconsideration that you’ve been working on also paves the way for Mars to enter Capricorn on January 24th. Bringing newfound energy and drive to your relationships, you’re now ready to put in the work! Mars in Capricorn is sustainable and rational, so you don’t need to worry about burning out too quickly. Just remember– relationships don’t have to be calculated or serious all the time. Have fun with it! Circling back to the darker Aquarius themes of this season, the New Moon on February 1st has a seriousness to it given its close proximity to Saturn, the planet of limitations. However, this New Moon is also square Uranus, the planet of liberation, so as you’re creating a foundation for how you’d like to approach the darker, shadowy parts of life, just remember that doing this work can be freeing. Rounding out the season on February 16th with a Full Moon in Leo, you’re asked to look at your finances, values, and assets in a way that is warm, inviting, and a little bit bold. Full Moons are a wonderful time for releasing, and, given the Moon’s square to the Nodes of Fate, this releasing will only help you move forward towards your greatness. That is, of course, as long as you’re putting in the work.

Leo
Dear Leo, this Aquarius Season really asks you to take a look at your relationships and partnerships. You may sometimes feel a bit detached, or misunderstood, in partnerships (both platonic and romantic), but you have to remember that the only way to let people know how you need to receive love is by telling them. As Mercury Retrogrades through this space, you’re asked to reconsider the way in which you’ve been communicating with others, especially those with whom you have close relations. Mercury dips back into Capricorn during this Retrograde as well, so you’re also invited to take a second look at your mercurial habits, routines, and rituals. Are you repeating the same narrative in your head, my friend? Is that narrative helpful or harmful? If it’s the latter, it’s time to reframe that little voice in your head. Now, this isn’t necessarily a new thing for you, as Venus, the planet of values and relationships, has been Retrograde in Capricorn. You’ve likely already been taking a second look at the value you put into your day-to-day routines: moving your body, the food you eat, your skincare regimen, etc. When you’re taking care of yourself in mind, body, and spirit, Leo, all the other pieces fall into place. The reflection you’ve been doing here paves way for Mars to enter Capricorn on January 24th, providing you with newfound energy and drive. Mars in Capricorn is sustainable, rational, and calculated, so the energy you have to put towards upgrading your habits is an energy that won’t run out of steam too quickly. (And thank goodness!) Bringing us back to our Aquarian themes for the month, the New Moon in Aquarius on February 1st invites you to set the scene for how you want your relationships and partnerships to move forward. While this Moon’s proximity to Saturn makes you want to be serious and structured, the square to Uranus asks you to think differently. When we approach our relationships in a new way, we can often find liberation. So, Leo, there’s no shame in changing things up if they haven’t been working for you. Rounding out the season on February 16th, the Full Moon in Leo really highlights you– who you are, who you want to be, and where you want to go. Given this Full Moon’s square to the Nodes of Fate, the releasing and letting go you do here makes space for you to step into the next phase of your greatness. Let them hear you roar!

Virgo
For you, Virgo, this Aquarius Season really highlights your daily habits, routines, work, and rituals. You’re meticulous, grounded, and adaptable by nature, however, the Sun in this space invites you to think differently about your day-to-day, and how you can dedicate yourself. While Mercury, your ruler, has been Retrograde in this same space, you’ve been taking the time to reflect and review your habits, thought processes, and methods of communication – particularly those directly related to your physical wellbeing and work. As part of its Retrograde journey, Mercury will dip into Capricorn, which asks you to reconsider some creativity and fun. Habits and routines don’t have to be boring, afterall, they can be a direct extension of our self-expression! Maybe this looks like waking up in the morning and putting on a fun, pop song to dance to and get your body moving. Or perhaps you sit down and journal, expanding upon your daydreams. Speaking of Capricorn, Venus has also been Retrograde in Capricorn, having given you the space to reconstruct your values related to play, pleasure, and creativity. Sometimes the only way to create a fulfilling, sustainable life is to nurture the mundane with beauty, love, and pleasure. All of this reflection paves the way for Mars to shift into Capricorn on January 24th, breathing new life into these areas of your life. (This area of pleasure and play also includes sex... so, Virgo, maybe its time to spice things up!) Mars in Capricorn is sustainable, rational, and calculated, so don’t worry too much about burning the candle at both ends– simply take this time to enjoy. Shifting back to the Aquarian themes of this season, the New Moon on February 1st provides you with the foundation needed to wipe the slate clean and reestablish your habits and daily work. Given this New Moon’s proximity to Saturn, you may feel compelled to but limitations on yourself, but this New Moon is also square Uranus, the planet of liberation. Use this time to think outside the box and get creative! With the Full Moon on February 16th, a spotlight shines on the dark corners of your subconscious; it’s time to dust the cobwebs. Particularly concerning your subconscious mind, mental health, and shadow self, take this time to release what’s not working for you (and doing so as a direct extension of your heart space). This Full Moon is square the Nodes of Fate, so any releasing that’s done here will help work you towards your Soul’s purpose. Give yourself grace this season, Virgo. You’ve got this!

Libra Dear Libra, Aquarius Season is all about your creativity, self-expression, pleasure, and play! You may find the way in which you create and express yourself is a little quirky or unique, but that’s what makes you so undeniably you. As Mercury begins its Retrograde journey in Aquarius, you’ve been really taking the time to reflect upon the ways in which you think about and communicate your own creativity. Retrogrades are a time for reevaluation, so it’s perfectly welcome for you to be reconsidering the ways in which you find joy. Dipping into Capricorn towards the end of its Retrograde journey, your thoughts may shift to reevaluating your home and private life. After all, creating a comfortable, sustainable space for you to retreat is incredibly important to your wellbeing. And speaking of which, Venus, your chart ruler, has been Retrograde in Capricorn since December 19th. Venus is all about love, money, values, and aesthetics, so you may feel yourself being called to spruce up your living space, or simply recognize what you value in your space. It’s important to not make any big financial decisions during Venus Retrograde, however, this can be a great time for you to get back to the drawing board. After all of this reflection, you’ve forged a path for Mars to make its way into Capricorn. When Mars enters Capricorn on January 24th, you’ll discover newfound energy that can be sustainably directed towards your private life and home. Mars in Capricorn is calculated and rational; its able to get things done without burning the candle at both ends. (And so are you!) Circling back to the Aquarian themes of this season, the New Moon on February 1st creates a foundation for you to tap into your creative, pleasurable endeavors. Given this New Moon’s proximity to Saturn, you may feel compelled to put limitations on yourself. However, this New Moon is also square Uranus, the planet of liberation. This gives you permission to lean on others for help and do things differently— there’s no shame in that game! Come the Full Moon on February 16th, a light will shine upon your networks, peer groups, and social circles. If the people who are meant to be supporting you aren’t, my friend, this may be a good time to make some room for those who will. This Full Moon is warm, inviting, and bold, so don’t forget that you can be, too. Given this Full Moon’s square to the Nodes of Fate, the releasing you do here (as well as the cultivating) will only help propel you towards leveling up– but not without doing the work.

Scorpio
Scorpio, it is time to dive into the depths of your private life, home, and roots! As the Sun moves into Aquarius, this area of your life is highlighted, and this burrowing is a welcome gift. Mercury has been Retrograde in Aquarius, as well, and you may have found yourself reflecting upon your home and sanctuary. This space should be one in which you can retreat to have a quiet mind, so if your space is causing mental stress, my friend, perhaps it’s time to reconsider how your home impacts all other areas of your life. Mercury will also dip into Capricorn on its Retrograde journey, you may find yourself called to reconnect with your community, siblings, or neighbors. Amplifying this area of your life, Venus has been Retrograde in Capricorn since December 19th. Dealing with our values and relationships, Venus Retrograde is a time in which you have the ability to reconsider the value you place in your communication methods and your local community. Perhaps you realize that you value connection and community more than you anticipated, or perhaps you realize the opposite, in that you need more space. This is just one example, of course, but the reconsideration that’s being done here will pave the way for Mars to enter Capricorn. As Mars shifts into Capricorn on January 24th, you’re given newfound energy that is sustainable, especially in how it pertains to your communication efforts and community. Additionally, as your ruler, Mars is extremely comfortable in Capricorn (also known as Mars’ Exaltation). With this in mind, you may find you’re feeling particularly good and energized, and the nice thing about this is that you don’t have to worry about burning the candle at both ends. Bringing us back to our Aquarian themes, the New Moon on February 1st provides you with a nice foundation for you to determine how you’d like to move forward in your private, home life. Given this New Moon’s proximity to Saturn, you may feel that you want to place limitations or boundaries upon yourself, however, this New Moon is also square Uranus. Uranus is the planet of liberation and change, so perhaps you use this New Moon to set intentions in a way that is different than you typically would. Then, the Full Moon on February 16th highlights your public persona and career. The Moon in Leo is warm, bold, and inviting, so don’t forget that you can be to others, too! As this Full Moon is square the Nodes of Fate, any releasing and letting go that is done here can act as an action item to help guide you towards your Soul’s purpose in this life. Keep in mind, though, you have to do the work for the Cosmos to work for you!

Sagittarius
For you, Sagittarius, this Aquarius Season is all about your communication and learning methods, as well as your community. As the Sun enters Aquarius, we’re asked to think in a way that is uniquely progressive, especially as it pertains to the collective. Mercury, who’s been Retrograde in Aquarius, has amplified this area of your life, requiring you to reconsider the ways in which you communicate. How do you communicate your hopes? Desires? Wishes? Dreams? If you’ve been holding yourself back, this is the time to reflect upon what you can do to move yourself forward. As Mercury dips into Capricorn during its Retrograde journey, you’re also asked to take a second look at money and finances. While you’ve been putting in the work, getting your finances and money situation sorted, there is always an opportunity to tie up loose ends. Speaking of Capricorn, Venus, the planet of money, values, and relationships, has been Retrograde in Capricorn, as well. During this time, you may have found yourself reconsidering what exactly it is you value. If you’re budgeting for all of your bills and savings to reach your goals, do you have leftover money for that coffee or outfit that’ll spark joy? That’s just an example, but, you get what I’m sayin’! As you’re doing this reflection, you’re also paving the way for Mars to enter Capricorn on January 24th. Mars in Capricorn is sustainable, rational, and calculated, so you’re provided with some newfound energy to put in any other work that is necessary to help get you to the financial place of your dreams. While this might look like more work on the surface, you’re given just enough drive and energy to get this work done without burning the candle at both ends. Bringing us back to our Aquarian themes, the New Moon on February 1st allows you to set the scene for how you want to communicate and express your thoughts. Given this New Moon’s proximity to Saturn, you may find yourself wanting to be structured and disciplined here, however, the New Moon’s square to Uranus asks you to break free from the mold. Think a little bit differently, especially in regards to how this new intention can be woven into your daily life. Then, on February 16th, the Full Moon highlights the area in your life related to higher learning, travel, and philosophies. The Moon in Leo is warm, bold, and inviting, so don’t forget that your expansion can be, too. This Full Moon is square the Nodes of Fate, which does require you to put in a little work– any releasing you do during this time will ultimately help fuel the fire of your Soul’s mission in this life.

Capricorn
It might not be your season anymore, Capricorn, but you certainly are getting a lot of Cosmic action this month! As the Sun moves out of your sign and into Aquarius, the comedown of your birthday gets real, and it’s time to focus on your financial habits and money situation. As Mercury is Retrograde in Aquarius, you’re given the opportunity to review and revise your budgets, spreadsheets, and other organization methods for your finances. You may find that what you thought was working for you needs a closer look. Additionally, Mercury will dip back into Capricorn during its Retrograde, which allows you to tie up loose ends related to yourself. Whether it’s the way you communicate your style, needs, or personality, this second chance allows you to retrace your steps and reconsider any shortcomings. Additionally, Venus has been Retrograde in Capricorn since December 19th. This is a huge deal for you, as Venus deals with values, love, relationships, and aesthetics. You may find that you’re reconsidering (what feels like) everything in your life, but you know what? You’ve gone through a lot of changes in the last two years! You’re evolving into the next level of yourself, and some of that change comes with discomfort and reflection. The work you’ve been doing for yourself is clearing a path for Mars to enter Capricorn on January 24th. This newfound energy will provide you with drive and ambition in a way that is sustainable. You don’t have to worry about burning the candle at both ends, as Mars in Capricorn has an uncanny ability to know when and where to use its energy. (And so do you!) Bringing us back to the Aquarian themes of the month, the New Moon on February 1st lays the foundation for how you want to move forward with your finances and assets. While this New Moon is in close proximity to Saturn, you may feel limited or bound by structure; this is your invitation to think outside the box, as the Moon also squares Uranus, the planet of liberation. Then, the Full Moon on February 16th highlights the stickiness and discomfort that can come with relying on others for financial help and support. Keep in mind, though, that a Leo Moon is warm and inviting, and support from others can be, too. Learning how to work this space will ultimately aid in learning all of the lessons your Soul is here to learn, given the Full Moon’s square to the Nodes of Fate. You’re no stranger to hard work and dedication, dear Capricorn, but remember, you don’t have to do it all alone.

Aquarius
It is your season, Aquarius, and this one is poppin’! As the Sun revitalizes your self, you may find yourself feeling brighter, better, and more energetic at this time of the year. There are, however, a few things coming up that are causing you to pump the breaks just a little bit. As Mercury embarks on its Retrograde journey through Aquarius, you’re asked to slow down, review, and reflect upon the way in which you communicate and conceptualize all of the intricate pieces that make you, you. As Mercury then dips into Capricorn, you’re invited back to the shadows of your mind and the depths of your subconscious. While you may have thought that you sorted through any outdated thought processes or voices in your head, Mercury retraces its steps to remind us that there’s always some loose ends to tie up. Speaking of Capricorn, Venus has also been Retrograde in this space since December 19th. Venus, the planet of values, love, beauty, and relationships, takes this Retrograde as an opportunity to reconstruct the shadow self. You may have found that your values, especially as they pertain to your mental health, have begun to shift. The work you’re doing here is so important, and paves the way for Mars to enter Capricorn on January 24th. Mars brings a newfound energy and drive to this area of your life, and while that may seem a bit exhausting, Mars in Capricorn is sustainable and realistic. Mars has the ability to do it’s thing and do it well, so give yourself the space to really put some energy towards maintaining your subconscious well-being. Bringing us back to Aquarius, though, the New Moon on February 1st acts as a clearinghouse for you to get intentional about who you are and who you want to be. While the Moon’s proximity to Saturn may cause you to feel a bit restricted or serious, it’s important to remember that you are an Aquarius, after all, and can do things your own way. This New Moon is also square Uranus, the planet of liberation, so take this as an opportunity to plant the seeds so you can blossom into a more authentic, free version of yourself. Then, the Full Moon on February 16th shines a bright light on your relationships and partnerships. You might like doing things all alone, but my friend, we’re humans who need connection. The Moon in Leo is warm and inviting, so perhaps you approach your relationships (both platonic and intimate) in the same way. This Full Moon is also square the Nodes of Fate, so the work you do here has a direct connection to your Soul’s work in this life. Remember, Aquarius, the Cosmos, and your people, have your back– as long as you let them in. Cheers to you and another year around the Sun!

Pisces
Pisces, you may feel like you’re losing a bit of steam during this Aquarius Season. As the Sun occupies the space of your subconscious mind and shadow self, these can feel like dark times. There’s a bit of excavating that’s happening here, though, as Mercury embarks on its Retrograde journey. Taking this time to reflect upon your mental health and subconscious mind, you’re given the space to reconstruct any areas below the surface that are feeling a bit sticky. Mercury also dips into Capricorn during this Retrograde, which also brings you to reconsider your social circles and peer groups. These are meant to be like-minded folks, so how are they contributing to your overall learning, reasoning, and thought processes? Venus also happens to be Retrograde in Capricorn, which has been asking you to review the values and relationships you have steeped into your social networks. While this period of revision can be frustrating at times, it’s utterly important– the work you do here paves the way for Mars as it moves into Capricorn on January 24th. Mars in Capricorn is sustainable, rational, and calculated, so the energy that’s being brought into your space of social connection is that which is of reasonable exertion. You don’t necessarily have to worry about burning the candle at both ends, so you may feel some drive to cut off any networks that are no longer serving you, or to focus your energy towards the networks that do. Bringing us back to the Aquarian themes of this month, the New Moon in Aquarius on February 1st invites you to set some intentions related to your shadow self, subconscious mind, and mental health. While this New Moon may have you feeling a bit isolated and limited, especially because of its proximity to Saturn, you also have the ability to communicate your needs in a way that is liberating. Then, the Full Moon on February 16th brings your daily habits and routines into focus. This Full Moon in Leo is warm and inviting, and everything Leo does is a direct extension of its heartspace. With this in mind, give yourself the love, grace, and hype to let go of any habits that are no longer working for you. This Full Moon is also square the Nodes of Fate, which means the work you do here is only going to help guide you towards your Soul’s mission in this life. The keyword here, though, is work.

About the Astrologer:

Hello Coven! My name is Vanessa (she/her) and I am an astrologer, writer, and yoga teacher from Cleveland, OH. I've always been obsessed with space and the cosmos, and first discovered astrology as most people do: in the back of magazines and newspapers. Growing up, my step-mom had Gary Goldschnieder's book, The Secret Languages of Birthdays, and I would carry it with me everywhere, flipping to friends and family's birthdays to read the pages aloud to them. It wasn't until 2013, however, when I discovered that astrology is so much more than just your sun sign. After dabbling in years of self-study, I decided to begin taking astrology classes at Coven under the leadership of Catherine Urban (NCGR-PAA IV, ISAR-CAP) in 2019. Shortly after, I began offering astrology consultations and completed the NCGR-PAA Level I exam. What I love so much about astrology is that it's a beautiful way of learning more about oneself and the world around them; even when you're not aware of it, astrology is doing it's thing! I'm a Leo Sun, Libra Moon, and Sagittarius Rising, so I love using astrology to hype others up and to help them find meaning, understanding, and expansion in their lives.
