Covenscopes by Vanessa Dunne: Sagittarius Season

On November 21st, at 9:33 pm, the Sun wades out of the murky waters of Scorpio and steps into the body heat of a crowded house party, hosted by Sagittarius. If Scorpio season had you ~deep in your feels~, Sagittarius season is here to lighten things up. Depicted by the Archer and ruled by Jupiter, Sagittarius is all about freedom, expansion, growth, knowledge, and best of all, FUN. Chances are, the Sag people in your life (or maybe even you) have been known to be the life of the party, cracking jokes, and dropping truth bombs on everyone they know. Sagittarius teaches us that there is so much out there in this world, and to fully live, we must fully enjoy it. Sagittarius also reminds us that sometimes we must throw caution to the wind and remember that the Cosmos has our back. Speaking of, this Sagittarius season is also painted by Eclipse season! The New Moon on December 4th, which is also a Solar Eclipse, reminds us that sometimes the most abundance comes from that which is unexpected. Closing out Sagittarius season, we have a Full Moon in Gemini, which highlights the dichotomy of what we know and what we believe. Impacting everyone just a little bit differently, this Full Moon is a time for releasing and letting go of certain elements of your life that are no longer propelling you towards your self-expansion and self-knowing.

Throughout the Sagittarius season, we also have a few planetary shifts. On November 24th, Mercury, the planet of communication, moves into Sagittarius. While this is not a comfortable place for Mercury to be, it can be a great time to journal and be long-winded about all of the thoughts swirling in your brain. Joining the Sagittarius party on December 13th, Mars steps out of it’s home sign Scorpio, and into the loud, boisterous Sag. Mars in Sagittarius can feel like unbridled energy, full of expansiveness and wonder, so be sure to direct your energy in ways that are fun, creative, and contribute to your personal growth. Shortly after Mars enters the party, Mercury decides it’s time to bounce, stepping into the serious and determined Capricorn, co-present with Venus. During this Sagittarius season, Venus also turns Retrograde. Given it’s proximity to the end of Sagittarius season, and Retrograde through most of Capricorn season, we’ll dive into that next month!

For more information on how this month’s astro-weather will play out for you, read on! (Hint: read for both your Sun sign AND Rising sign!)

Aries

Dear Aries, this Sagittarius season is all about embracing your expansiveness! Where can you grow? What can you dive into? How can you open your mind to new ideas and philosophies? The Solar Eclipse on December 4th sparks a cosmic new beginning in your life related to your expansiveness; maybe you’re guided to further your education, travel, or tap into your spirituality. Pay attention to what comes up for you around this time and be sure to stay away from any manifesting or magic, as Eclipses tend to expose the unexpected. The Full Moon on December 18th, however, is a great time to release any beliefs, ideals, or communication styles that no longer support the person you are blossoming into. Sit with what it is your higher self needs during this season, and allow yourself to release what no longer serves you.

Taurus

This time of year can be a little challenging for you, Taurus, as the sun lights up the area of your life concerned with darker matters, such as other people’s resources and deep, personal transformation. At the end of the day, though, this is Sagittarius season we’re talking about! So while it may be a bit more melancholic for you, there is an element of optimism and expansiveness that comes from learning to rely on others and support your ongoing transformation. As a fixed sign, it can be easy to feel stuck; Sagittarius season reminds us that we have the ability to change, if we want to. The Solar Eclipse on December 4th serves as a reminder that sometimes the Comos will put us exactly where we need to be; pay attention to where in your life you are guided towards accepting other people’s help and how, in turn, this helps you transform your life. Also, be sure to stay away from any manifesting or magic during this time, as it may go awry! The Full Moon on December 18th, however, is a great time to get serious about your values and finances. If you’ve been noticing that you haven’t been managing your money or values in a way that is productive, perhaps you begin to release any bad habits. On the contrary, if you’ve been working hard on your financial situation, this could be a great time to treat yourself and invest in something nice.

Gemini

Gemini, this Sagittarius season is asking you to get social! With a focus on your relationships and partnerships, you’re asked to bring on the fun. The Solar Eclipse on December 4th brings fated encounters in your life-- pay attention to who you meet! Eclipses act as Cosmic check-ups, putting us where we need to be (and bringing deep, meaningful people into our lives, too!) As we wrap up this Eclipse cycle along the Gemini/Sagittarius axis, you’re probably looking back on the last year and a half of your life and recognizing all the personal shifts and changes that have occurred. As we close out this Eclipse cycle, really take the time to reflect on how much you’ve grown and come into your own. Also, with Eclipses, it’s important to remember to not practice magic or manifestation, as Eclipses are unpredictable and things could go awry! The Full Moon on December 18th, however, is a great time to check in with who you are and the person you’re becoming. As the relationship between you and others continues to get highlighted, this is a great time for releasing. If there’s a relationship or partnership in your life that isn’t serving you, this may be a good time to reconsider it (or even let it go).

The Solar Eclipse on December 4th reminds us that the Cosmos puts us exactly where we need to be. As this Eclipse can impact the physical body, pay attention to your physicality during this time.
